I AMS......Scene III

My classes recently finished studying the seven I AM statements Jesus made in the Gospel of John. If you aren't familiar with them, here they are!
I am the bread of life.
I am the true vine.
I am the good shepherd.
I am the gate for the sheep.
I am the light of the world.
I am the resurrection and the life.
I am the way, the truth, and the life.

I gave my students the assignment of coming up with their own I AM statements which would define them. Again tonight, I am posting some of them. They are brutally honest and all are used with permission, boys in blue and girls in pink!

I am a leaf floating in a polluted river.
I am powerful through God who gives me strength.
I am completely and totally in love with food.

I am the boy who hears it all and accepts too much.
I am the boy who is quiet when angry.
I am the stone the builders refused.
I am the spark who makes your ideas bright.

I am a girl who has fallen in love with the idea of love.
I am a girl who is afraid of being unforgiven.

I am a boy who is scared of dogs.
I am a girl who likes to dye her hair.
I am my own confidant.
I am a young man hidden by a facade.

I am a hopeless romantic.
I am a girl with a troubled life.
I am the girl whose lies stay with her every second of every day.
I am a girl with a heart full of life but a life full of demons.
I am a girl with dreams too big to accomplish.
I am the next Beyonce...but bitter.
I am the girl who is scared to be hurt emotionally by a boy.
I am the girl who backs off without warning.
I am the girl scared to lose someone I love.

I am big but still small.
I am a boy on the fence between God and the world.
I am a young man who others have great expectations for but I fear I can't live up to them.

I am God's workmanship.
I am a girl ungrateful for what God has blessed me with.
I am the oldest with certain responsibilities and expectations to meet.
I am the girl who feels alone within a group of friends.
I am a girl who has recovered from self-harm.

I am lost within myself.
I am the girl who used to cry herself to sleep.
I am a girl who has overcome but doesn't see herself as strong or beautiful.
I am a girl who wants to love but is afraid to be hurt.
I am a very thankful young man.
I am the calm in a storm.
I am a young man with hope.
I am trying to be the best for my grandpa.

God bless,
Steve
