Monday (St. Patricks Day) Update On Dad

It has been a long day! I flew into St. Louis and the landing was delayed by shifting ground winds. We went straight to the hospital after Scott and Karen picked me up, with a waiting Java Chip Frappacino from Starbucks! Our initial word was that Dad had qualified to go to the 8th floor of St. Luke's for rehab but that apparently is on hold. Please pray Dad can be approved instead of going to Surrey Place, which is a good facility, but the rehab sessions are only once per day instead of three as they are at St. Luke's. Dad is very happy we are here! He speaks clearly until he gets tired and then he slurs his words. His swallow test was put off until tomorrow; he desperately wants a cup of coffee so we hope he does well! Dave and Sally will drive in tomorrow so please pray for safety for them. Scott hopes to power wash the house on Tuesday. I was reminded of how much worse others have it. Karen and I were standing in a waiting area when we heard a family discuss their decision to remove their father from the ventilator and his impending death. We are very hopeful Dad can recover a great deal! Just two weeks, ago, we weren't sure he would even survive the surgery so we feel very blessed!
God bless,
Steve

PS: Thanks to Jeanette and Don for opening up their house for us for a terrific supper tonight!
