Often, I have my students write in-class essays with no warning and with the caveat that some will be used, with permission, in my nightly blog. On Monday, I asked all five of my classes to describe in paragraph form a perfect world. I set it up referencing the fall from Eden. Based on what they know, they think life would be difficult at best without cell phones, the Internet, the Mall, WHATABURGER, and football. Their thoughts are interesting to say the least. Again, these are all used by permission and tonight's writings are all from eighth graders. Tomorrow, we will hear from some juniors. (Girls are in pink, boys are in blue.)
A perfect world is a world with no conflict. Conflict causes war which causes destruction. In a perfect world, everybody lives happily and there is no death. Living happy means that nobody will be homeless. Everyone will be what they want to be. Also, there will be no weapons, because there is no need for them, because nobody will get shot (conflict). No racism, no violence, no cops. Sports will be better when nobody argues or fights. No need for money when there is no rent, no paying for school, everything is unlimited and free. A perfect world would provide fairly so you get whatever you want.

I think the perfect world would be boring. There wouldn’t be things to work for. In a perfect world, everything you want would be handed to you. We also wouldn’t be able to keep the perfect world perfect. People always screw up somehow. We don’t deserve a perfect world, because we are not perfect. If there was a perfect world, humans wouldn’t be allowed there.

Now is it a perfect world, or a perfect nightmare? In a “perfect” world, there would be no sports, because sports are in no way perfect- every game would be a tie, because you would get the exact same score as the other team. There would be no death, no aging, but what age do you stop growing in a perfect world? Would everyone be babies, children, teenagers, adults, or would we all be 80? There is no perfect age. There would be no books, because some people hate reading, and some people don’t like certain genres. There would be no senses, because some people don’t like certain smells, tastes, sounds, or sights. A perfect world is physically impossible, because no one can be pleased all the time. Not everyone likes the same things so these things would no longer exist, so therefore nothing could exist and we wouldn’t be in an endless black box, because some people don’t like the color black. In a perfect world, nothing would exist. There would be no sun, because of sunburns, no wind, because of the cold, no fire, because you could get burned, and no water, because some people can’t stand being wet. God would not exist, because some people don’t like God. In a perfect world, nothing would exist. Thank You.

A perfect world to me is everyone being the same. There would be no competition. Life wouldn’t be fun; it would be like a world of robots that are programmed. People couldn’t die, meaning that heaven would have to change. There couldn’t be a perfect world, because a perfect world would be boring to some. There isn’t a thing of perfection unless everyone’s world is made to meet their needs. If that was true, then the world wouldn’t be perfect because everyone isn’t the same.

To me, a perfect world would mean no self harm. In our generation, so many young teens are being bullied into hurting themselves. There would be no social media because that can cause people to go crazy. Another thing there would be in a perfect world is better relationships. If a boy asks a girl out, she would say YES. She would say yes because there are only perfect boys in a perfect world! In a perfect world, there would be no competitive sports because competition causes conflict. There would be no child abuse or rape in a perfect world- we would not have to deal with that. Overall, even though a perfect world would be perfect, I still would not want to live there!
PS: In a perfect world, I would marry Shawn Mendes. Kendall A perfect world would be one with no rules. A world with no rules would be out of control. At school, students could talk all the time because it isn't a rule. If it's a rule during school, in the real world, teachers would not like it. You would not be able to learn at all. Also, you couldn't get a job, own a business, or go to college. People need to be challenged or life would be too easy. Challenges- life, sports, education, friends- are needed for us to get better. If you take a harder class, you get challenged. I was challenged by my family moving (life-friends-education) but I don't regret it. I met people I would have never met if we had stayed in Houston!
