Our first day of school is in the books! It was a good first day, a typical one. Besides basketball, I am teaching five Bible classes. My two eighth grade periods will spend the year on the Gospel of Luke. My two sophomore classes will study the Gospels for thirty-six weeks. My one senior Bible class, all boys, will cover Hebrews through Revelation this fall and the parables of Jesus in the spring. Today, I spoke of my trip to China and how blessed these kids are to have the blessings they take for granted. As part of the lesson, we watched a video called Teenage Affluenza. I would highly recommend taking four minutes and watching this satirical, and incriminating to all of us, look at life in the US.

Applicable quote of the day:
''Many who seem to be struggling with adversity are happy; many, amid great affluence, are utterly miserable.''
