Visitation....and Thank You

The visitation for Dad yesterday was tremendous. So many people honored our family by coming and showing their respects to Dad. We were touched by the support from the Lafayette congregation as well as Dad's friends from CFS. It is going to be an emotional and busy day. After the funeral, we will leave to make the eight-plus hour drive to Nashville, Arkansas for the burial tomorrow. We just spent our last night in our folks' house. Dad would have liked that there was room for all and then some. It will be hard pulling out of the drive for the final time today but that is because our parents' caused us to love this place so much. Please pray for the safety of all in traveling today and in the next few days.

We still love hearing from you. If you have special remembrances of Dad and Mom, please send them to me at steve@hawleybooks.com. I started this blog selfishly as a way to sell more books: it has evolved into a communication instrument which has allowed us to stay in touch with you and vice versa. I hope to post the video that Herb Crown put together for the funeral here within several days.

Dave and Scott will return in about three weeks to take Mom to Wichita to her new facility. They will also move the remaining furniture and keepsakes to Kansas. There will be a special house for sale. Never was a house built or filled with more love. Our prayer is that the new owners will come to cherish it as much as Roger and Nelda did. That would make Dad happy. Thanks so much to all of you.

God bless and love,

Steve...and all of the family of Roger and Nelda

The service today was beautiful, Steve. I'm sorry that we didn't get a chance to meet you -- we will send a memory to your e-mail address soon. We are so thankful to have been blessed to know Roger and to be at the funeral today. May God be with you all at the burial and through your travels.

Your family's words at the funeral today were a wonderful tribute to your parents. I have posted some pictures and thoughts about Roger and Nelda on my blog at: http://bradfordlstevens.blogspot.com/

May the Lord grant to you the peace of his shalom that comes when one walks through the valley of the shadow of death. I know that your parents are proud of you all.

God bless,

the viewing and funeral were all handled with the style and grace that i would have anticipated from the children of Roger & Nelda Hawley. I hope you are comforted in knowing that you have absorbed so much of the gifts that they had so skillfully used for so many years.

may God bless you and comfort you and your family as you continue over the coming days, weeks and months. thank God for having had such wonderful parents and continue the legacy that they have given you!
