Friday Update On Dad

Dad was more alert today, especially in the morning. We have been with Dad non-stop since 8:00 this morning and are rotating in. Shaun has arrived from Alaska where he is stationed in the US ARMY and Shanna landed a short time ago from Japan. Dave, Scott, and I spent two hours in the bank working through power of attorney issues in setting up another bank account for direct deposits in Mom's name. (The young lady, Amy, at Commerce Bank, was very helpful.) Late this afternoon, Dave, Scott, and myself talked to Dad and outlined his situation. We took turns and went step-by-step through his health issues and he indicated he understood. We told him that we had requested to have him on the ventilator to give us the chance to come so we could tell him how we felt and also give Dad the chance to tell us. We told him that tomorrow, we would have the ventilator removed so he can talk, Lord willing. We told him the consequences of leaving it removed and asked if it was his wish to keep it off, after explaining what it might mean. Dad nodded that that is his wish. We also reassured him that we were not giving up on him and that many prayers were going up in his name. Dad worked very hard in his therapy this morning so he is still fighting. He is at peace and ready to go if that is the Lord's will. Please pray for all of us tomorrow and in the coming days. Please pray for safety in traveling as we have several folks driving in as well as driving home. We thank you and we praise the Lord for his loving kindness.
God bless,
Steve
