God's Workmanship! (Trina Agee Cornell)

My blog for eight nights in a row comes from one of my favorite people, Trina Agee Cornell! I met Trina 20+ years ago doing missions in Honduras. We've tried to hire her at WCS but the Lord is using her in St. Louis. She is a terrific wife and mom and disciple of Christ. Keep me in your prayers as I continue my work in Vietnam!

Hello, everyone!  I hope this finds you doing well and having a great day! I pray that you know the steadfast love of the Lord today - and the new mercies that this day brings.  Remember that His faithfulness is great.  The Lord is your portion - so you can put your hope in Him.

If you have not already figured it out, I am a Type-A personality.  I do well with schedules and routines, and I pride myself on being organized and on top of things.  When I start things, I like to finish them – I do not like to leave anything hanging.  If I am reading a book, I like to finish the chapter I am reading before pausing.  If I am watching a Netflix show, I do not like to stop in the middle of an episode.  I like to see things through.  I like to accomplish the tasks that are set before me – and do them well.

God does not follow this type of mindset when it comes to me.  In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul reminds them that they are “God’s workmanship”, created in Christ Jesus for the good things that God has prepared for them to do (2:10).  This means that all of us are “works in progress” – we are being molded and shaped daily.  God is the potter – we, individually, are the clay.  He sees where we are headed – because He has prepared our paths.  I have learned that I will never “arrive” – and the Lord’s work will be done.  Every day – until my last day – the Lord’s work will be done in me, and in us all.

What project is God working on in you? Where do you feel broken, but see that God is building you up into exactly who He wants you to be?

God bless,
Steve
