The Rain Must Fall

I have never seen the mood of a city swing like Houston's in the last three days. Steady rains on Saturday, Sunday, and this morning have led to a marked improvement in our aggregate natures. People are smiling and being congenial to strangers and the kids are happier in my class as well. We take nature for granted until there is a crisis- a hurricane, a blizzard, a drought. Then, and sometimes only then, do we collectively petition the Lord for what we desperately need. There are 107 rain references in the NIV from Genesis 2 through Revelation. A number of them are the derivative rainbow but there would be no rainbow without the rain. Today, Houston is grateful... but we won't complain if you send some more, Lord!

(The YouTube clip is one of my favorite songs about rain for all of you from my FCS history classes!)

Applicable quote of the day:"Healing rain is a real touch from God. It could be physical healing or emotional or whatever."
