Father And Son

This picture could stand alone without words. Seth arrived yesterday in Alaska from Afghanistan to be with his lovely wife, Lauren, and newborn son, Noah. You can tell Seth is a soldier by his clothes, his hair, and his tan. You can tell he's a father by the way he holds his child. I'm proud of my nephew, Seth. He has matured into a wonderful young man through the grace of God, a loving wife, and the diligence of his parents. I remember when we were visiting Dad near the end of his life and Seth hung back when we left to tell his grandfather that he planned to marry Lauren. Dad approved. One of my father's great disappointments was never being able to hold Harper, his great granddaughter who died at ten months. When I hold Noah for the first time, I will dedicate the experience to my father. Dad would approve of that, too.

Applicable quote of the day:
"It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons."

I have prayed for Seth and Lauren since the day Seth left for boot camp and I will pray even more now since Noah has joined the clan.
Congratualations Seth and Lauren and to Grandma Karen and Grandpa Scott!
