The Gospel Of Football

Football season is upon us! As a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker fan, I am hopeful new coach Bo Pelini can revive the Big Red successes of yesteryear. At Westbury Christian, we also have a new coach. You might have heard of him. Charlie Ward won the Heisman Trophy at Florida State and then pursued a basketball career in the NBA. Coach Ward has taken the reins of a program that has enjoyed very little sustained success in the decade it has been in business. Under new guidance, our football program is now seen as a ministry to which I say, AMEN. Yesterday, we hosted our first Football Family Fun Day. Besides football, sessions were offered on academics, nutrition, heart health issues, and a officiating session for the moms. Outside, young men of varying ages went through stations. After a skill was introduced, a Life Coach spoke of a Biblical concept. That's what I was. At my station, I teamed with former Dallas Cowboy Greg Briggs and my topic was PERSEVERANCE. Above, I have posted some photos of this first clinic in WCS history. I will keep you posted on the progress of the season. It's already off to a great start!

Applicable quote of the day:
"
“When you are credible and you've done it, and been in certain situations, players are going to respect you, ... I know what they are thinking, so it is not hard to relate. I don't talk much, and never have, but whenever I make a point or something, it gets their attention.”
Charlie Ward (on coaching)
God bless,
Steve

Hey Coach! I told you I'd leave a comment :].
But I agree with what you said, hopefully the team will do better this year! I think Coach Ward will help us a lot! And I'll be there at every home game just like last year! Got to support the school even when we lose! Anyways, see you at school tomorrow :]
Peace
