Discovering God's Greatness (Joe Widick)

More thoughts from Joe Widick who is pinch hitting while I am in China.

Recently, I mentioned that there are three things that helped Job realize how truly great God is. They were revealed to Job out of a storm as God questioned him about various things of the creation. In Job 38:31 one sees God asking; “Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion?” Does that say anything to you about the greatness of God? What if you knew (and maybe you do) that Pleiades is a mere 440 light years away from the earth and that Orion is more that 100 light years across! Does that help form in your mind how truly great God is? Think of our little planet where God placed man and offered for man a means to be united with him for ever in heaven. We live on a little planet that pales in size comparison to the stars that shine above us each night. Does it impress you that God who is so great that he can speak into creation the stars of the sky yet loves you and I so much that afforded for us a plan of salvation? Job learned that he didn’t know anything about the creation once God began to ask him about it. Our God can do” immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine.”
